If you're new to the YES Network, or want to get in touch with a YES Network member near you to discuss research ideas, etc., here's a list of YES Network members across the US (and in some cases, around the world).

We are continually updating this page with new information about our US YES Network members, so check back periodically to find new faces and perspectives.

If you'd like for us to add you to this list, please send an email to us at yesnetwork.usa [at] gmail.com. with the following information:

Hi! I'm currently working as a research analyst at AGI where I collect and analyze data from public and restricted sources that pertain to all aspects of the geosciences, including education, careers, and economic factors. I hold a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and have worked at AGI since 2008. I joined the YES Network in 2008 and served on the 2008-2010 executive team as the VP of Communications. This year, I'm serving as an ex-officio member of the Communications Team.

I find that the YES Network has been a great resource for building international connections, networking, developing project ideas, and getting a global perspective on many different geoscience issues. The ability of the YES Network to leverage a multitude of different web technologies to discuss ideas, collaborate on projects, and host meetings and workshops has enabled it to connect with so many geoscientists who would otherwise be unable to get involved in these projects and initiatives.

Hello! I am a geologist, originally from Kent in England, who studied at Imperial College London. After studying mine water remediation for my Masters thesis on 45 coal mines around the UK, I went to work at Atkins Ltd in the hydrogeology and mine remediation team for four years. Seeking fresh challenges, I moved to Colorado in 2008 and started working on an industry-supported uranium mining Ph.D., focusing on the geology and hydrology of a future mine site in Wyoming.

During 2010, I applied to YES and was elected as both a USA network member, and also as part of the Visioning Team in the YES leadership. During the last year, I have worked with colleagues based around the globe in this team by email and skype, to shape the future activities of YES, and to work out how we can better support the goals of YES: supporting geoscience education, young scientist networking, and communicating sciences to broader society. In my team role, I am helping to work on future YES events such as at the 2011 Geological Society of America national annual meeting.

Hi everyone!  I'm an Assistant Professor of Meteorology at SUNY College at Oneonta, a small primarily-undergraduate college in Central New York.  I did my post-baccalaureate degree work at Colorado State University under the supervision of Graeme Stephens in the fields of atmospheric radiation and climate change.  I currently teach a 7-8 course/year load of courses in atmospheric science, oceanography, and science education.  I also have a few active grants from NASA and NSF for improving the way that we offer K-16 education in the Earth Sciences using real data and authentic science inquiry, while I'm also an outreach coordinator for the NASA CloudSat mission.

I love the work that YES is doing to connect us early career geoscientists and help us to tap into each others' strengths.  I'm proud to be a part of this group, and I especially look forward to opportunities to discuss effective education strategies that help us all, even if we aren't all looking at the same part of the Earth system.  I attend the AGU conference every year, and hope to see some of you there!
